LINCOLN YOUTH GIRL'S BASKETBALL
WELCOME TO THE 25/26 LINCOLN YOUTH GIRLS’ BASKETBALL SEASON!
- Registration is open for Girls Basketball. We will be having player placement to determine teams.
- Plus, we will be holding Open Gym at Lincoln HS for Middle School girls on Sundays from 3:30-5pm starting October 12th

INFORMATION ON LINCOLN YOUTH GIRLS’ BASKETBALL PROGRAM
PIL youth sports list girls’ basketball as a cut sport, but we are hopeful that we can find a team for all girls that want to play basketball. That is why we are calling it player placement.
The season is from November – February. Each team will have 2 practices a week at West Sylvan (or potentially one practice on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln and one during the week at West Sylvan). Games will start in mid-December. We will be playing in the PIL Youth Basketball league, so we will be playing other PPS cluster programs. Most games will be on Wednesday evenings, plus a few Saturday games, and games will take place at PPS gyms.
There is also an opportunity for each team to play in 1-2 tournaments around the Portland Metro area if they want.
PLAYER PLACEMENT REGISTRATION AND INFORMATION
Player Placement date: November 8th. Time to be determined. At Lincoln High School
To participate in player placement, you must:
- Be in grades 6th, 7th or 8th grade for the 2025/2026 school year
- Be registered online in advance – see below for link.
- Have a current physical on file (either upload during registration or bring in a COPY in person to player placement) – see below for the link to the form.
- No athlete may participate in tryouts or practices without both a completed registration and current physical on file.
- Do not pay the team fee until after your player is on a team.

Physical Exam form:
Lastly, ALL PIL athletes must have a physical exam. A doctor must complete page 2 of the form. If your child has seen his/her doctor within the past 2 years, your doctor's office may go ahead and complete the form without an additional sports exam. Check with your child's physician. Also, the Physical Examination Forms are good for two years. If you turned this form in the last year for a PIL sport, please let Coach Julie know. We advise that you KEEP a copy of this form for yourself.I strongly recommend getting this form filled out as soon as you can.

Lincoln Youth Cluster information:
Our Middle School program is cluster based, meaning a student would participate in one of the 8 High School clusters that they live within. If you are wondering if you are in the Lincoln High School cluster, please see link below. Note, you do not have to be a student at West Sylvan or Skyline to participate. All Middle Schoolers in the Lincoln Cluster are allowed to participate no matter what school you attend.

OPEN GYM INFORMATION:
Lincoln High School coach, Brent Reed, with help from our Middle School coaches, will be hosting open gym for Lincoln Youth Girls Basketball. Open gyms will be at Lincoln HS on Sundays from 3:30pm to 5pm starting on October 12th. All are welcome. Player Placement will happen in late October/ beginning of November. This will be a 2-3 hour practice (most likely at Lincoln High School). Tentatively we are looking at the morning of Oct 30th or Oct 31st (these are no school days for PPS) but we will update with a finalized date soon.

Portland Interscholastic League Youth Sports Program (PILYSP) serves our 6th – 8th grade students that live within Portland Public Schools boundaries. PILYSP’s mission is to build character, community and academic excellence through equitable athletic programming. Our Middle School program is cluster based, meaning a student would participate in one of the eight High School clusters that they live within (West Sylvan students participate in the Lincoln High School cluster).
