    COURSE CONTENT:

A two year Computer Engineering CTE program. Students will explore Computer and Software Engineering majors. Emphasis will be placed on computer fundamentals for exploring computer engineering, microprocessors, mathematics, programming and creative problem solving. Students will work independently and apply good communication skills. The program is designed to apply and reinforce the hardware and software concepts to prepare the students for computer support, maintenance and installation. Emphasis will be placed on the introduction of theoretical concepts using C++, C# and other advanced programming languages in the Windows and Linux environment.

    COURSEWORK:

Students are expected to work daily on lab experiments, approved projects or a course assignment. Working on a NON-approved assignment, chatting or web surfing will result in the loss of all daily points for that day and the use of the computer for that day. Answer all questions in complete sentences and explain any false questions. There will be weekly assignments and daily lab work, experiments and/or programs. All assignments must be organized and very
legible or typed (computer generated) to receive full credit.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

    The student will learn:

    • The importance of safe work practices and accident prevention related to
      computer industry.
    • To maintain written notes and documentation.
    • To communicate through computer language and mathematics.
    • To install and use various operating systems, programs and device drivers.
    • To apply Boolean algebra, basic laws and mathematics expressions and
      simple circuits.
    • Study the approaches to converting numerical data from one format to another representing numerical data.
    • To explore and use basic knowledge of the C++ programming language.

How to solve various programming problems in C/C++.

    1. To apply the basic theories of computer architecture, data structure, assembly and various programming techniques.
    2. To explore and use basic knowledge of digital circuits.
    3. To explore and understand basic design of microprocessor and its circuits.
    4. The student will be exposed to a variety of presentations relating to career opportunities in the Computer Software and Engineering field.
