2025-2026 Attendance Procedures
Please note, some days get busy, and we may not get attendance updated prior to robocalls going out. You do not need to call or email again. Attendance will get updated. Thank you!
All excused absences and attendance corrections must be submitted within 3 schooldays of the students’ return to school, per district policy. It is the parent’s / guardian’s responsibility to clear unexcused absences even if the student is 18 years old. (Administrative Directive 4.10.012-AD)
Note: We strongly recommend that you memorize or keep handy your student's ID number. This will be required on many forms.
Starting with the beginning of the 2nd quarter on Monday, November 3rd, Grant is turning off the absence reporting feature on ParentVUE. This decision is due to an increase in misreported partial day absences. This change will allow us to keep more accurate attendance records and ensure that we have a record of all excused absence submissions.
Going forward, the Grant Absence Reporting Form is the preferred method for parents / guardians to submit all excused absences. If needed, an email sent to grantattend@pps.net is also acceptable. For emergencies without advanced notice, please call our Main Line at 503-916-5160 to speak with a secretary.
As a reminder, there is a 24-hour processing period for appointments this year. Parents and guardians can excuse these using their verified email address in our Absence Reporting form or by emailing grantattend@pps.net. Grant must receive notification of this appointment, via one of the two above methods, at least 24 hours prior to the absence in order for the student to be cleared to participate in athletics, extracurriculars, or events on the day of the absence. For last-minute appointments, the absence will not be excused until the following day.
A note from your practitioner is not needed to excuse an appointment.Remind Attendance Messages
If your student has been marked with an unexcused absence, you will receive an automated message. For classes missed before lunch, this is sent at 12:30pm. For classes missed after lunch, it goes out at 4:30pm. (Please note that the first class after lunch can be tricky. Robocalls go out in the middle of that class period and an attendance code can change during the class.)Robocalls are turned on at the district level. We have no control over them at high school. If you are not receiving these messages, let us know, and we may be able to update your contact information.
If you receive an attendance message:
- If you have not yet excused the absence but would still like to do so, please use the Absence Reporting Form.
- If a parent/guardian receives a call, but your student believes this is an error, please have your student contact their teacher or pick up a Blue Correction Slip from our attendance office (inside the main office).
- If you have already properly submitted an excuse for this absence, you do not need to call, email, or fill out the form again. Due to the daily high volume of excuses being reported, we are very busy and may not get attendance updated prior to Remind messages going out at 12:30. Student’s attendance will get updated by the end of the day.
- Please note, we can only process excused absences that are submitted from verified parent / guardian email addresses in Synergy. If an absence is submitted for your student from an unverified email, it will remain unexcused. We will notify your listed contact via email. Make sure your contact is up-to-date and double check for typos on the Absence Reporting Form!
*If you are unable to report using our Absence Reporting Form, you may report the absence via email at grantattend@pps.net or call us at 503-916-5171 and leave a message.
